Secret Invasion

Nick Fury and Talos discover a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

Secret Invasion (2023) is a American Disney+ spy thriller miniseries created by Kyle Bradstreet for Disney+, a six-episode Marvel Studios production set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Samuel L. Jackson returns as spymaster Nick Fury, teaming with Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, a shapeshifting Skrull, as they track a hidden faction of shapeshifting aliens who have been living among humans on Earth for years. Kingsley Ben-Adir plays Gravik, the faction's leader, while Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman appear among the principal cast. The engine of the show is paranoia: every ally and official might be a disguised infiltrator, and Fury must navigate political pressure and covert operations to expose them. Each episode builds suspense through espionage, secret meetings and escalating confrontations. The story unfolds as a single continuing arc across its six episodes, a compact limited series. Its tone is tense and grim, with a sober espionage register and frequent action sequences. Fans of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Fringe will find resonance in its shapeshifting intrigue and mistrust.

Audiences found the Marvel espionage miniseries formulaic and underwhelming, with weak writing and performances despite its effects work.
