Imitation

Ma-Ha, a member of the struggling girl group Teaparty, faces anger and backlash after injuring popular idol Kwon Ryeok during a reality TV program, leading to tense encounters as their paths continue to cross.

Imitation (2021) is a South Korean comedy-drama series created by Han Hyun-hee and Kim Min-jung for KBS2. Following a single twelve-episode season of roughly sixty-two minutes each, it centers on Lee Ma-ha (Jung Zi-so), a member of the struggling girl group Teaparty, whose life tilts when she injures the popular idol Kwon Ryok (Lee Jun-young) during a reality television program. The public backlash that follows pushes her into tense, awkward encounters with him and with rival performers, and their paths keep crossing as the fallout plays out across the entertainment world. Park Ji-yeon as La Ri-ma and Jeong Yun-ho as Lee Yu-jin add principal energy to the group's orbit. The show is built from the daily pressures of a Korean idol agency: broadcast schedules, fan communities, managers protecting image, and performers fighting for visibility. Its register blends breezy comedy with wistful, sometimes bruised drama about reputation and ambition. Viewers who enjoy a korean idol drama, a light entertainment industry satire, or a grounded workplace comedy in the vein of Entourage will find a familiar pleasure here, along with the emotional texture of a webtoon adaptation.
