Medabots (1999-2001) is a Japanese animated science fiction action series created by Rin Horuma and broadcast on TV Tokyo, with production work from BeeTrain and Production I.G. Set in a near future where children partner with artificial intelligence robots, the show follows Ikki Tenryou (voice by Michiru Yamazaki) and his robot Metabee (voice by Junko Takeuchi) as they compete in Robattles against rival Medafighters. Arika Amazake (voice by Eri Sendai) and the robot Brass (voice by Masami Suzuki) add rivalry and camaraderie to the roster. The engine of each episode is a battle in which the winner takes Medaparts from the defeated machine, so the young heroes must keep upgrading their arsenals while facing ever tougher opponents.
