Who Rules The World

A legendary wuxia romance that focuses on the decade-long romance between Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi, and the adventures they embark on together.

Who Rules The World (2022) is a Chinese wuxia romance series created by QingLingYue and produced by Xixi Pictures for Tencent Video. Its central pair, Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi, are played by Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi, and the series follows their decade-long romance as the two bicker, hide their true identities from one another, and set off together on a string of martial arts adventures. Zhang Fengyi plays the Lord of Yongzhou, and Carman Lee Yeuk-tung plays Lady Baili, adding courtly stakes to the leads' sparring. The engine of the story is the tension between concealment and attraction: each secret threatens the bond the two are slowly building, while their journeys through rival clans and royal courts keep forcing them into danger together. The series runs as a single 40-episode season of roughly 42 minutes each, a continuing romance rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in an invented historical China of martial sects and palace politics, it is a costume drama in the tradition of Chinese wuxia television. Its tone mixes playful banter with romantic longing and moments of action, and it suits viewers who enjoy period romance with swordplay. Fans of The Untamed, Nirvana in Fire and Eternal Love will find resonance in its blend of romance, adventure, and royal intrigue.
