After Moving Seats, The Boy Behind Me Has A Crush On Me

A simple seating change sparks an unlikely romance when the most popular boy in school confesses to his quiet classmate.

After Moving Seats, The Boy Behind Me Has A Crush On Me (2026) is a Japanese boys' love romance series created for TV Aichi and BS Fuji. Adapted from a novel and set in a Japanese high school, the eight-episode, 25-minute series follows Haru Mayama (Eito Konishi), a quiet student who prefers to stay out of attention, and Kosei Asamiya (Gennosuke), the most popular boy in the class, after a teacher's routine seat rotation places them side by side. Kosei goes out of his way to form a bond with Haru, which leaves Haru deeply confused and unsure that someone so admired could sincerely care for him. The engine of the story is small and concrete: the everyday rhythms of classroom life, shared walks, and quiet exchanges that slowly erode Haru's walls. Supporting figures include Sakaki Toma (Hiramoto Ken) and Koki Tsunekawa (Iijima Hayate), whose presence widens the school world around the pair. Each episode is a gentle, brisk step forward in a single continuing courtship rather than a case-of-the-week format. The tone is sweet, tender and hopeful, with a wistful undercurrent of insecurity and a patient focus on feelings. Fans of Kimi ni Todoke, Horimiya and Given will find resonance in its blend of school romance and emotional restraint.
