El Chapulín Colorado

El Chapulín Colorado (1973-1979) is a Mexican television superhero parody sitcom created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños for Las Estrellas. Gómez Bolaños stars as the title hero, a timid self-styled crime fighter in a red suit with antennae who announces himself with bravado and then stumbles through every rescue. Ramón Valdés, Carlos Villagrán, Florinda Meza and Rubén Aguirre round out a neighborhood ensemble of schoolteachers, landlords and gossips whose squabbles fuel the comedy. Each 22-minute episode builds around a villain plot, a mishap and a closing confrontation, with recurring catchphrases and visual gags that keep the ritual familiar. The show runs as a light, warm, family-friendly sitcom across seven seasons and roughly 289 episodes, a broadcast in the same tradition as the classic Mexican comedy of its era. Its tone is playful, breezy and nostalgic, with the spirit of a children's cartoon hero delivered through live action and physical slapstick. Viewers who enjoy the 1960s Batman camp, the sketch absurdity of Monty Python's Flying Circus, or the neighborhood comedy of El Chavo del Ocho will find the same affectionate parody here.

Audiences broadly regard El Chapulín Colorado as a beloved, acclaimed slapstick parody of superhero conventions, with its early seasons rated far more warmly than its later ones.
