The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish

Ten-year-old Hazel Wells has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, fairy godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true.

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish (2024) is an American animated family fantasy series created by Dan Abramovici, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston, Dave Stone and Lindsay Katai for Nickelodeon. It follows ten-year-old Hazel Wells (voiced by Ashleigh Crystal Hairston), who has just moved with her family to the big city of Dimmadelphia and feels lonely and unsure of herself now that her older brother has left for college. Her new next-door neighbors turn out to be Cosmo (Daran Norris) and Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee), fairy godparents who have come out of retirement to grant her wishes. The engine of the series is the gap between what Hazel asks for and what she actually needs, as the wish-granting duo's magic tangles with everyday school, friendship and neighborhood life in a bright, busy urban setting. Rendered in colorful 3D animation, the show stays breezy, playful and warm, with a light mischievous streak. Its single season of thirty-six episodes is built from self-contained wish-of-the-week stories rather than one long arc. Fans of The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom and The Loud House will find a similar mix of cartoon whimsy and family-friendly comedy.

Audience reception is mixed, with a moderate season rating and a modest vote count, suggesting a fun but unremarkable revival of the franchise's fairy godparent comedy.
