Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles

The exploits of the Mobile Infantry squad, "Razak's Roughnecks," during the SICON–Bugs War between a newly united humanity and an extraterrestrial race, known as the "Bugs," also sometimes referred to as Arachnids.

Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles (1999-2000) is a United States computer-animated military science fiction series created by Duane Capizzi, Richard Raynis and Jeff Kline for Syfy and syndication. Following the Mobile Infantry squad known as Razak's Roughnecks, the show centers on Johnnie Rico (Rino Romano), Carl Jenkins (Rider Strong) and Dizzy Flores (E. G. Daily) as they are pitched into the SICON-Bugs War, a brutal interstellar conflict between a newly united humanity and the giant arachnid Bugs. Each episode is built around a self-contained combat mission in which the squad must survive hostile terrain, overwhelming insect swarms and the chaos of frontline command, while trading banter and camaraderie in the downtime between battles. Across its single season of forty episodes, the series keeps a steady, action-driven rhythm of skirmishes and tactical crises set against a far-future backdrop of alien worlds and military hardware. Its tone blends earnest military action with youthful bravado and moments of grim wartime peril. Fans of Starship Troopers, Starship Troopers: Invasion and Transformers: Animated will find the same mix of squad-level combat, ensemble heroism and sci-fi spectacle here.
