The Centurions

In the near future, Doc Terror and his cyborg companion Hacker unleash their forces to conquer Earth! Only one force can stop this evil: a handful of brave men. In specially created Exo-Frames, they can be transported anywhere to fuse with incredible assault weapon systems beamed down from the space station Skyvault, becoming man and machine, Power Xtreme! Max Ray, brilliant Sea Operations commander! Jake Rockwell, rugged Land Operations specialist! Ace McCloud, daring Air Operations expert! Whatever the challenge, they are ready - The Centurions!

The Centurions (1986) is a American syndicated animated action series created for syndication by Ruby-Spears Productions, a single-season run of 65 half-hour episodes aimed at young viewers. Max Ray, the brilliant Sea Operations commander, leads a team that also includes the rugged Land Operations specialist Jake Rockwell and the daring Air Operations expert Ace McCloud, with Crystal Kane rounding out the squad. Voiced by Vince Edwards, Pat Fraley and Neil Ross among others, the heroes strap into Exo-Frames and fuse with assault weapon systems beamed down from the orbiting station Skyvault. Their engine is a constant struggle against the mad scientist Doc Terror and his cyborg companion Hacker, who send forces to conquer the planet. Each episode is built around a fresh invasion or scheme that the team must halt with a blast of firepower. The tone is bold, campy and upbeat, with a clear moral line between heroes and villains. Fans of Transformers, G.I. Joe and Bravestarr will find a similar appeal in its toy-friendly mecha spectacle and its gleefully earnest 1980s cartoon energy.

Audience reception is positive, with a modest rating across a small pool of votes, valued mainly for its action-driven cyborg toy-tie-in spectacle.
