Totally Spies!

Totally Spies! depicts three girlfriends 'with an attitude' who have to cope with their daily lives at high school as well as the unpredictable pressures of international espionage. They confront the most intimidating - and demented - of villains, each with their own special agenda for demonic, global rude behavior.

Totally Spies! is a French animated action comedy series created by Vincent Chalvon-Demersay and David Michel for TF1 and Gulli. Following best friends Sam, Clover and Alex, three high school girls who are secretly international spies, the show follows its heroines as they juggle homework, shopping, boys and fashion with covert missions for a shadowy agency. Their handler feeds them assignments, and the trio face outlandish villains who each pursue their own demented plans for global mischief. Each episode is largely self-contained, following a case-of-the-week structure, and the series has run across many seasons with a bright, breezy and playful tone driven by slapstick and sharp teen banter. The settings move between the girls' everyday suburban and Los Angeles high school world and glossy spy missions that take them around the globe. Its colorful, fast-paced visual energy and female friendship at its center make it a comfortable pick for younger viewers. Fans of Kim Possible, The Powerpuff Girls and Code Lyoko will find a similar mix of teen heroines, gadgets and campy villains.

Reviews are mixed, with the colorful action-comedy formula and female friendship drawing the strongest approval, especially from fans of the later seasons.
