Overview
Mr Jason Rafiel seeks Miss Marple's help to solve a crime but he does gives her any details. In fact, he can't be sure that a crime was committed at all.
Miss Marple: Nemesis (1987) is a British television miniseries created by T.R. Bowen for BBC One, a two-episode adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel in the BBC's long-running Miss Marple series. Joan Hickson stars as Miss Jane Marple, the elderly amateur sleuth whose quiet powers of observation outmatch the people around her. Jason Rafiel, played by Frank Gatliff, comes to her with a request that is deliberately vague: he cannot say what happened, or even be certain that anything did. Frank Gatliff's Rafiel and Bruce Payne's Michael Rafiel anchor a family tangle, while Peter Tilbury's Lionel Peel supports the inquiry. The engine of the story is Marple's patient method, sifting small conversations, household habits and half-remembered details until a pattern emerges. The two episodes unfold at an unhurried pace across English village and country-house settings. Its tone is genteel, measured and wry, with a cozy, polished surface beneath which the puzzle slowly tightens. Fans of Agatha Christie's Poirot, Murder, She Wrote and Agatha Christie's Marple will find the same pleasures of reasoning, manners and an elegant whodunit atmosphere here.
