Overview
Lizzie McGuire is all about the ordinary and not-so-ordinary adventures of a junior high student and her two best friends as they try to deal with the ups and downs of school, popularity, boys, parents, a bratty little brother--just life in general. And if Lizzie leaves anything unsaid, you can bet that her cartoon alter ego will say it for her!
Lizzie McGuire (2001-2004) is an American Disney Channel sitcom created by Terri Minsky. Hilary Duff plays junior high student Lizzie McGuire, whose everyday struggles with school, popularity, boys and parents drive each episode. Her two best friends, Miranda Sanchez (Lalaine) and Gordo Gordon (Adam Lamberg), stand beside her through every social misstep, while Jake Thomas plays her bratty little brother Matt and Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine play their parents, Jo and Sam McGuire. The engine of the show is a teenager trying to act cool while her own thoughts keep slipping out, and the series' signature touch is an animated cartoon version of Lizzie who voices the things she won't say aloud. Each self-contained episode is a small, bright comedy of errors built from classroom humiliations, crushes, family squabbles and friendship tangles, so viewers can jump in at any point. The series runs across two seasons and sixty-five episodes in a bright, breezy, comforting register that captures early two-thousands teen life. Fans of Even Stevens, Hannah Montana and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch will find the same mix of lighthearted family comedy and relatable adolescent embarrassment.
