Fated to Love You

An office worker has an unexpected one-night stand with a wealthy business heir. When she discovers she’s pregnant, will love – or heartbreak – follow?

Fated to Love You (2014) is a South Korean romantic comedy-drama series created by Jo Jin-kuk for MBC. Office worker Kim Mi Young, played by Jang Na-ra, has a one-night stand with the wealthy business heir Daniel Pitt, played by Choi Jin-hyuk, and then discovers she is pregnant. The engine of the series is the tension between two free-spirited people who never planned on commitment, and the question of whether their accidental bond can survive family pressure, class divisions, and the expectations of a chaebol family. Jang Hyuk and Wang Ji-won add further romantic complications as rival figures in the lives of the leads. The story runs across a single season of twenty hour-long episodes, following a serialized arc in which each episode deepens the central relationship and its emotional stakes. The setting is contemporary urban South Korea, with its corporate offices, wealthy households, and close-knit social circles. Tone is sweet and playful at first, turning wistful and bittersweet as heartbreak and loyalty are tested. Fans of Full House, Boys Over Flowers, and My Love from the Star will find the same blend of romantic comedy, melodrama, and class-crossing love that defines the korean drama tradition.

Audiences rated the series positively, praising its sweet romance and the chemistry between its leads.
