Marvel's Iron Fist

Danny Rand resurfaces 15 years after being presumed dead. Now, with the power of the Iron Fist, he seeks to reclaim his past and fulfill his destiny.

Marvel's Iron Fist (2017-2018) is a United States streaming superhero series created by Scott Buck for Netflix, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Finn Jones plays Danny Rand, a young man presumed dead for fifteen years who resurfaces in present-day New York City to reclaim his family company and his destiny as the wielder of the mystical Iron Fist. Jessica Henwick plays Colleen Wing, a martial artist who becomes his ally, while Tom Pelphrey and Jessica Stroup play the Meachum siblings Ward and Joy, who run the corporation and clash with him over its future. David Wenham appears as their father's shadow, and Sacha Dhawan plays the menacing Davos. The engine of the show is Danny's struggle to balance his mystical martial arts training against the boardroom battles and criminal threats that surround him. Across two seasons and twenty-three episodes, the series moves through a mix of kung fu action set pieces and corporate intrigue. Its tone is earnest and action-driven, with a grounded urban texture and a restless, sometimes brooding atmosphere. Fans of Daredevil and The Defenders will find familiar Marvel street-level kinship here, and viewers drawn to kung fu action may connect with the martial arts focus. The series was canceled after its second season, leaving its story unfinished.

Reception is mixed: viewers find the lead performance and martial arts weak and the early story slow, though the supporting cast and Sacha Dhawan's Davos are singled out as bright spots.
