Blood Blockade Battlefront

One day, New York City as we know it vanished overnight into a mysterious fog. Now known as Hellsalem's Lot, it has become a place where another world beyond imagining is connected to our reality. The balance within this new world is protected by a secret society known as Libra. Leo, a journalist and photographer who arrives in the city, is unexpectedly recruited to join their ranks.

Blood Blockade Battlefront (2015-2017) is a Japanese anime supernatural action comedy series produced by BONES. Set in a version of New York City that vanished overnight into a mysterious fog and became Hellsalem's Lot, where another world beyond imagination touches our own, the story follows Leo, a journalist and photographer who arrives in the city and is unexpectedly recruited into Libra, a secret society that protects the balance between realities. Principal characters include Zapp Renfro (Kazuya Nakai), Klaus von Reinherz (Rikiya Koyama), Leonardo Watch (Daisuke Sakaguchi) and Black (Rie Kugimiya), each voiced in the original Japanese cast. Across two seasons and twenty-four episodes, the engine is a steady run of supernatural skirmishes, with characters battling monsters, rival factions and strange phenomena while trying to hold their fragile city together. The tone blends stylized violence with irreverent, deadpan humor and a streak of dark comedy, while the wider themes of belonging and found family give the series a quieter emotional thread. Fans of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Constantine and Trigun will find resonance in its flamboyant action, eccentric ensemble and offbeat sense of humor.

Audience reception is mixed, with the first season rated more favorably than the second.
