My Wife is the Student Council President

The story begins with Izumi Hayato running to be student body president. But when a beautiful girl swings in promising the liberalization of love while flinging condoms into the audience, he ends up losing to her and becoming the vice president. At the student council meeting, the newly-elected president invites herself over to Izumi's house, where she promptly announces she is to become Izumi's wife thanks to an agreement that their parents had made, a drunken promise decades ago that their children would one day become husband and wife. Naturally Hayato is against this, but Ui has the complete opposite reaction, and even wants to live with him! Will the upset Hayato and the overenthusiastic Ui be able to manage their school and marital life while keeping it a secret from the other students? Or will the two never come to understand each other's feelings?

My Wife is the Student Council President (2015-2016) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy adapted from a manga and broadcast on AT-X, a traditional Japanese anime tradition. Hayato Izumi (Kazuyuki Okitsu) runs for student body president and loses to the charismatic Ui Wakana (Ayana Taketatsu), who promptly declares that a drunken promise between their parents makes her his wife. The engine is simple and comic: Hayato wants a normal school life and resists the arrangement, while Ui pushes into his home and his routine with enthusiastic certainty. Each short episode is built from classroom and council scenes, school events, and domestic friction, and the couple must hide their living arrangement from classmates. The series spans two seasons and twenty-four episodes of brisk, cheerful, sometimes risque comedy, with bright character-driven visuals and a light romantic undercurrent. Fans of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and Rent-a-Girlfriend will recognize the mix of escalating romantic misunderstanding and school setting, and viewers who enjoy playful romcoms with a secret-relationship premise will find it an easy watch.

Audiences found the fan-service comedy lively but its romantic premise and crude content divisive, with the second season rated noticeably lower than the first.
