The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2015-2026) is an American late night talk show created for CBS, broadcast from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater in New York. Host Stephen Colbert delivers a sharp nightly monologue on politics, entertainment, business, and technology, then sits down with an eclectic rotation of guests for conversation. Bandleader Jon Batiste and his band Stay Human provide music and playful interplay across the broadcast. The engine of each episode is the host's satirical take on what is new and relevant that day, mixing pointed commentary with comedic segments and interviews with actors, musicians, authors, and public figures. Its run spans eleven seasons and well over a thousand episodes, a continuing parade of topical rants rather than a story arc. Stephen Colbert's satire has the bite of a political commentator and the warmth of a late night host, giving the program a lively, irreverent register. The show is a fast-moving, topical comedy that rewards viewers who follow the news.
