Swedish Dicks

Two unlicensed Swedish private investigators try to make a living in Los Angeles.

Swedish Dicks (2016-2018) is a Swedish-American crime comedy series created by Andrew Lowery, Peter Settman, Peter Stormare and Glenn Lund for Viaplay. Peter Stormare plays Ingmar and Johan Glans plays Axel, two unlicensed Swedish private investigators trying to scrape together a living in Los Angeles. Their hustle runs on bluffing, improvised credentials and cases that are more cover story than mystery, with clients and rivals occasionally pulling them into deeper trouble. Sun, played by Vivian Bang, and Sarah, played by Felisha Cooper, bring the partners into the wider orbit of the city's oddballs. Each twenty-five minute episode is a self-contained case-of-the-week, and the show runs across two seasons and twenty episodes. The tone is dry, witty and satirical, with deadpan banter that treats the detectives' outsider status and the absurdity of American private investigation as constant comic material. The visual feel is light and breezy, closer to a sunny bit of parody than a gritty noir. Fans of Monk, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Corner Gas will find similar resonance in its odd couple chemistry and mismatched outsiders.

Audiences find the mismatched Swedish detective duo's absurd Los Angeles capers witty and satirical, with the second season rated higher than the first.
