Kung Fu: The Legend Continues

Like his legendary namesake, Kwai Chang Caine is a warrior monk, operating a Shaolin temple in Northern California. After an evil priest, Tan, destroys the temple, Caine and his young son, Peter each believe the other has perished. The two embark on very different paths -- Caine wanders the Earth, while Peter is a cop. When fate brings the two together, they work to overcome their differing philosophies to battle Tan, and then to help the innocent and bring justice to the new Wild West -- 90s urban America.

Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1993-1997) is an American action drama series created by Ed Spielman for Prime Time Entertainment Network, running four seasons and eighty-eight episodes. David Carradine stars as Kwai Chang Caine, a warrior monk who roams the Earth after his Shaolin temple in Northern California is destroyed by the evil priest Tan. Chris Potter plays Peter Caine, the son Caine believed was lost, now a police officer in the city. When fate brings the estranged pair together, they must bridge very different philosophies to battle Tan and defend the innocent. Kim Chan appears as Lo Si, a steady presence in the Caine circle. Each forty-four-minute episode is a self-contained case built around martial arts confrontations, giving the series a serialized arc with episodic adventures. Its setting is 1990s urban America, cast as a modern Wild West where justice is improvised. The tone is earnest, meditative and action-driven, balancing reflective calm with fight sequences. Fans of the original Kung Fu, Walker, Texas Ranger and Highlander: The Series will find resonance in its lone fighter ethos and righteous action.

Critics and audiences rate the series as mixed, with its martial arts action and David Carradine's philosophical lead remembered fondly but its formula and uneven production showing.
