The 12 from Oldenheim

Follow the lives of the inhabitants of Oldenheim, an ancient Dutch village where families have lived for generations. The terror is great when the inhabitants of the village are confronted with a series of mysterious disappearances.

The 12 from Oldenheim (2017) is a Dutch scripted mystery series created by Remy van Heugten, Lex Passchier, Anne van der Linden and Martin van Steijn for Videoland. Set in Oldenheim, an ancient village where families have lived for generations, the series follows a community confronted by a run of mysterious disappearances. Its cast includes Peggy Jonkers, played by Noortje Herlaar, Sharif Dahmani, played by Nasrdin Dchar, Elnaz Wisse, played by Bahareh Borzuee, and Victor Kinkspoor, played by Fedja van Huêt, whose households are bound by old loyalties and quiet resentments. The engine of the show is the slow spread of suspicion through familiar streets and kitchen tables, as residents weigh what they know against what they are willing to say. The series unfolds as a single complete season of twelve forty-five minute episodes, a contained mystery that builds tension through interlocking family storylines rather than a procedural case file. Its tone is eerie and paranoid, with a sense of communal unease that feels intimate and claustrophobic. Viewers who enjoy the village secrets of Broadchurch, the atmospheric small town dread of Twin Peaks, and the missing persons unease of The Killing will find a similar pull in this compact Dutch mystery.

• Twin Peaksvillage mystery with mounting dread and a close-knit community under suspicion
• Broadchurchsmall town disappearances and community secrets with serialized suspense
• The Killingmissing persons investigation shaking a tight-knit community
