The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies

Christopher Jefferies's life is turned inside out when one of his tenants disappears without a trace just before Christmas.

The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies (2014) is a British two-part true crime drama miniseries created for ITV1. Jason Watkins plays Christopher Jefferies, a quiet, well-liked Bristol schoolteacher and landlord whose orderly life is upended when one of his tenants, Joanna Yeates, vanishes just before Christmas. Nathalie Armin plays Melissa Chapman, a neighbour caught up in the uneasy aftermath, while Shaun Parkes appears as Paul Okebu and Joe Sims as Vincent Tabak, figures pulled into the investigation's shifting focus. The engine of the drama is the slow erosion of a decent man's reputation: eccentricity becomes suspicion, neighbourly chatter hardens into rumour, and the tabloids turn a single missing-person case into a public spectacle. Each of the two fifty-seven-minute episodes builds steadily through interviews, doorsteps, and newspaper headlines. Told with restraint and a bleak, unsettling tone, the miniseries examines stigma, prejudice, and the damage a media storm can do to a life. Its grounded, documentary-style realism makes it a natural pick for fans of The Jinx, The Staircase, and Broadchurch.
