LOL: Last One Laughing

An unscripted variety series from Mexico in which ten professional comedians compete for a cash prize by trying to make each other laugh. The one who refrains from laughing the longest, while forcing other contestants to laugh first, is the winner.

LOL: Last One Laughing (2018-present) is a Mexican unscripted comedy competition series for Prime Video, produced by Endemol Shine Boomdog among other companies. Host Eugenio Derbez presides over a cast of professional comedians including Carlos Ballarta, Michelle Rodríguez, Alfonso Borbolla and Mauricio Barrientos, who compete for a cash prize by trying to make one another laugh. The engine is simple: each contestant must keep a straight face while pushing rivals toward giggles, and the last player still composed takes the win. Each season runs six episodes of roughly thirty minutes, and the series has now aired eight seasons, making it a long-running Spanish-language reality format. The tone is rowdy, playful and irreverent, with the comics improvising jokes and trading barbs in a studio setting that feels like a boisterous party. Fans of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Lip Sync Battle and Comedy Central Roast will find a similar appetite for improvised banter, celebrity wit and competitive laughter.

Audience reception is poor, with the series rated 3.6/10 by viewers who find the comedian-laughter contest format unfunny or cruel.
