Reprisal

A hyper-noir story that follows a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, sets out to take revenge against her brother and his bombastic gang of gear-heads.

Reprisal (2019) is an American neo-noir crime drama created by Josh Corbin and broadcast on Hulu. Across a single ten-episode season, the story follows a relentless femme fatale, played by Abigail Spencer, who is left for dead and then sets out to take revenge on her brother and his bombastic gang of gear-heads. Rodrigo Santoro plays Joel Kelly, and Rhys Wakefield, Mena Massoud and David Dastmalchian fill out the principal cast around her. The engine is simple and relentless: she wants retribution, and every move she makes exposes the criminal world that wronged her and forces her to decide who she can still trust. Each episode is a tight, hour-long escalation of betrayal, cold planning and violent confrontation rather than a case-of-the-week structure. The show is shaped as one continuing story that ends before its arc fully resolves. Its tone is dark, stylized and hard-edged, with a heightened, hyper-noir atmosphere that foregrounds moral rot and the cost of vengeance. Viewers who enjoy Killing Eve and Westworld will find a similar appetite for stylized, morally murky genre storytelling. The setting is a contemporary American underworld rendered in sleek, neon-tinged noir.

Audiences rated the single season positively, praising its stylish neo-noir revenge story and lead performance.
