Laetitia

Eighteen-year-old Laetitia has disappeared. Police quickly arrest Tony Meilhon but investigators still can’t find the body. This story follows the repercussions for Laetitia’s family and twin sister Jessica; the police force inner workings and social services; the judicial system and government itself.

Laetitia (2020) is a French national-television crime miniseries created by Antoine Lacomblez and Jean-Xavier de Lestrade for France 2, a six-episode limited series of roughly 42 minutes each. The story begins when eighteen-year-old Laetitia disappears and police arrest Tony Meilhon, yet investigators still cannot find her body, leaving the case unsettled. Its engine is the search for a truth that resists proof: detectives and magistrates push toward a conviction while the family, led by Laetitia's twin sister Jessica (Sophie Breyer), lives with grief, suspicion and the slow erosion of ordinary routines. Alongside them, the series traces social workers, police officers and courtroom figures, including Sam Karmann as Gilles Patron and Alix Poisson as Béatrice Prieur, as they navigate their own compromises. Shot in a sober, documentary-leaning register, the miniseries is built from interviews, procedure and quiet domestic scenes rather than spectacle. Its tone is somber, measured and aggrieved, with a steady undercurrent of anger at institutional failure. Viewers who appreciate The Missing, Unbelievable and Spiral will find the same patient, morally weighted examination of how a justice system handles a vulnerable life.

• Unbelievableshared true crime dramatization, French police and judicial system scrutiny, family grief
• The Missingshared slow burn investigative procedure centered on institutional failure and a missing-person case
• Spiralshared European crime drama with social fallout and judicial mechanics
