Zomboat!

We follow two sisters contending with the recent zombie apocalypse.

Zomboat! (2019) is a British comedy series created by William Hartley and Adam Miller for ITV2, a single-season limited series of six short episodes. Two sisters, Kat (Leah Brotherhead) and Jo (Cara Theobold), contend with the aftermath of a sudden zombie outbreak while their friends, including Amar (Ryan McKen), Sunny (Hamza Jeetooa), Jude (Callum Kerr) and Rob (Rory Fleck-Byrne), form a loose and quarrelsome survival group. The engine of the show is the friction between family loyalty and everyday frustrations, as the characters squabble over plans, supplies and loyalties while trying to stay alive in a changed world. Each episode is a brisk, roughly twenty-five-minute outing built around small chaotic escapades rather than a long mystery. The tone is irreverent, cheerful and gleefully crude, with a deadpan streak that treats the apocalypse as a backdrop for petty arguments and awkward reunions. Set in contemporary Britain, the series sits in the tradition of British zombie comedy, and fans of Shaun of the Dead, Dead Set and Zombieland will find a similar blend of gore, banter and affectionate sibling chemistry. It is a quick, scrappy watch for viewers who enjoy horror played for laughs.
