La unidad

A secret unit of cops is assembled to stop a terrorist band from attacking Spain after their leader is arrested there.

La unidad (2020-2023) is a Spanish television crime thriller series created by Dani de la Torre and Alberto Marini for Movistar Plus. Across three seasons and eighteen hour-long episodes, it follows a clandestine squad of police officers assembled in secret to stop a terrorist band from attacking Spain after its leader is arrested on Spanish soil. Nathalie Poza plays Carla Torres and Michel Noher plays Marcos Cobos, leaders whose operation keeps colliding with the shifting pressures of intelligence work, bureaucratic obstruction and personal risk. Marian Álvarez, Luis Zahera and Fele Martínez fill out the team and the wider investigation. Each season is a continuing serialized manhunt, with surveillance, interrogations and tense infiltration sequences driving the story forward as the unit tracks a network whose reach extends far beyond the arrest. The tone is taut, gritty and relentlessly suspenseful, grounded in the realism of counterterrorism work. Its treatment of cell structures and the human cost of the hunt carries a sober, anxious weight. Viewers who enjoy 24, Homeland and The Bureau will find resonance in its procedural intensity and morally uneasy spy-world texture.
