The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Anos Voldigord was a tyrannical Demon King that eradicated humans, spirits, and even the gods, but became bored of eternal warfare and reincarnated with dreams of a peaceful world. However, what awaited him in reincarnation after 2000 years were descendants who became too weak after being accustomed to peace, and all sorts of magic that deteriorated to the extreme. Anos enters Demon King Academy that gathers and educates those who are viewed as the reincarnation of the Demon King, but the academy could not see through his true powers and ends up branding him as a misfit.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy (2020-2024) is a Japanese animated fantasy comedy series adapted from a light novel and produced by SILVER LINK. and broadcast across regional Japanese networks including AT-X and TOKYO MX. The story follows Anos Voldigoad, a tyrannical Demon King who wiped out humans, spirits and gods before growing bored of endless war and reincarnating in search of peace. Voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Anos finds the world of his descendants transformed: magic has deteriorated and the people are weakened by long peace. He enrolls at Demon King Academy, which gathers those believed to be reincarnations of the Demon King, but the faculty cannot see through his power and brands him a misfit. Takuma Terashima voices Lay Glanzudlii, and Sayumi Watabe voices Eleonore Bianca, both principal figures in the school's comings and goings. Each episode is built around academy trials, rivalries and magical mishaps in which Anos's overwhelming strength is misread as ordinary. Across two seasons and 37 episodes the series keeps the engine simple and the mood breezy, with a deadpan, dignified comedic register. Fans of Mushoku Tensei, The Rising of the Shield Hero and Overlord will find resonance in its overpowered reincarnation premise and power fantasy humor.

Audiences find the series a light, fan-service-driven fantasy comedy whose reversed power-fantasy premise is entertaining but uneven, with mixed overall reception.

• Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnationpower fantasy with an overpowered protagonist in a magic school, lighthearted action comedy tone
• Rising of the Shield Heroreincarnated powerful outsider in a magic academy, shonen action and school life
• That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimeoverpowered protagonist misjudged by a fantasy society, isekai power fantasy comedy
• Overlordancient evil reborn in a weaker age, comedic fish-out-of-water fantasy
