Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!

Shinichi Sakurai’s one wish is for a little peace and quiet. But Hana Uzaki — his boisterous, well-endowed underclassman — has other plans. All she wants is to hang out and poke fun at him. With the help of her chipper charm and peppy persistence, this might just be the start of a beautiful relationship!

Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! (2020-2022) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series produced for AT-X, adapted from a manga and presented as a light slice of life anime. Shinichi Sakurai, a college student who simply wants a little peace and quiet, is the reluctant center of the story, and the energetic underclassman Hana Uzaki, the boisterous and cheerful lead, refuses to leave him alone. Voice actors Kenji Akabane and Naomi Ohzora carry their pairing, with Ayana Taketatsu as Ami Asai adding a friendly presence to the cast. The engine of each episode is Uzaki's constant plans to hang out, poke fun at Shinichi, and draw him into outings with her friends, while he tries to keep his routine intact. The show spans two seasons across twenty-five episodes of roughly twenty-three minutes each, following a single continuing relationship rather than a case of the week. Its tone is playful, teasing, and warm, with gentle comedic exaggeration and a flirtatious undercurrent. Setting is a contemporary Japanese college campus. Fans of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and Teasing Master Takagi-san will find resonance in its banter-driven courtship.

Audience reception is mixed to positive, with viewers enjoying the slice-of-life charm and the lively central pairing while finding the title character's boisterous persona divisive.
