Vampire in the Garden

A vampire queen and a human girl join forces against all odds in search of “paradise” — a place where humans and vampires peacefully coexist.

Vampire in the Garden (2022) is a Japanese animated science fiction fantasy miniseries produced by WIT STUDIO and Production I.G and released on Netflix. Its five short episodes follow a vampire queen, Fine (voiced by Yu Kobayashi), and a human girl, Momo (voiced by Megumi Han), who team up against long odds in search of a legendary paradise where humans and vampires can peacefully coexist. The engine of the story is their fragile alliance: every stop along the road tests whether two beings raised as natural enemies can trust each other, and each episode brings a new threat, pursuit or hostile encounter that pushes them toward or away from their goal. Momo's psychic abilities add both danger and hope to the journey. The overall shape is a single continuing story rather than a case of the week, told across one compact season that moves at a brisk pace. The setting is a near-future world where vampires and humans are uneasy neighbors. The mood blends tender companionship with action and moments of harshness, giving the animation a hopeful yet tense register. Fans of Vampire Hunter D and Hellsing Ultimate will find resonance in its vampire mythology and wary bonds, while viewers drawn to Bubblegum Crisis will appreciate its futuristic edge.

Audience reception is mixed, with a modest audience rating for this short anime miniseries.
