Kaun Banega Crorepati

Hosted by India's biggest superstar, Amitabh Bachchan, one of the biggest shows is here to entertain millions, change lives and make dreams come true.

Kaun Banega Crorepati (2000-present) is an Indian Hindi-language quiz game show created by Arun Sheshkumar for Sony Entertainment Television, an adaptation of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire format and a long-running Indian broadcast tradition. Hosted by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan (who has anchored nearly every episode), the show follows ordinary contestants who climb a ladder of escalating general knowledge questions, where each correct answer multiplies the prize and a wrong one can cost everything. The engine is simple and gripping: a single contestant under lights, a few lifelines, and a fortune hanging on one answer. Across eighteen seasons and well over a thousand episodes, the format shifts between ordinary players and celebrity guests such as Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Sachin Tendulkar, who appear to play for charity or fans. The tone is warm, communal, and hopeful, with Bachchan's courtly charm carrying the room. Viewers who enjoy Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Jeopardy!, and Deal or No Deal will find the same tension and gentle aspiration here, delivered at a national scale and built for family viewing.
