SurrealEstate

Aided by his own remarkable abilities and an eclectic team of associates, real estate agent Luke Roman specializes in “metaphysically engaged properties,” aka haunted houses. Together they investigate, clear and close the houses nobody else can.

SurrealEstate (2021-2025) is a Canadian supernatural drama series created by George R. Olson for CTV Sci-Fi Channel. Real estate agent Luke Roman (Tim Rozon) uses his own remarkable abilities, along with an eclectic team of associates including Susan Ireland (Sarah Levy) and August Ripley (Maurice Dean Wint), to investigate, clear and close properties that nobody else can handle: houses troubled by ghosts and other metaphysical forces. Each episode is built around a new haunted property, so the engine is a case-of-the-week format in which the team must uncover what is wrong with a house before a sale can happen. The show runs three seasons and thirty episodes, set in present-day Newfoundland and Labrador. Its tone is breezy and upbeat, with a light comedic team dynamic that softens the eerie material and keeps the atmosphere more playful than frightening. Themes of home, belonging and the unseen life of ordinary places run through its episodes. Viewers who enjoy Ghostbusters and the monster-of-the-week spirit of Supernatural will find a similar appetite for paranormal investigation, though the show stays closer to an easygoing comfort watch than either.

Audiences rate the series positively as an easy-watching, lightweight supernatural comedy-drama, with the first season generally regarded as stronger than the second.

• Ghostbustersshared supernatural procedural format with ghost hunting and light comedic team dynamics
