After a fractious first meeting, where Yun Shu dressed down the especially finicky Sinian, she was shocked to find out that he was her university lecturer. Through a series of coincidental encounters, the two agreed to engage in a contractual marriage. As the feelings between them grow, how will they keep their relationship from those around them?

Perfect and Casual (2020) is a Chinese romantic comedy series created for Mango TV, adapted from a web novel and running for a single 24-episode season. Miles Wei plays Zhang Sinian, an aloof and finicky university professor known as a cold male god, while Xu Ruohan plays Yun Shu, a calm and sunny student who unexpectedly discovers he is her lecturer after a rocky first meeting. Supporting roles are filled by Dai Yunfan as Lu Yu, Zhao Luoran as Gao Zhiyi, and Ma Ge as Yun Lan. A chain of coincidental encounters pushes the two into a contractual marriage, and the story's engine is the constant effort to keep their arrangement secret from classmates, colleagues and family while their feelings quietly grow. Each episode is built from small domestic moments, misunderstandings and playful bickering, so the drama unfolds as a steady slow burn rather than a sprawling plot. The tone is light, warm and affectionate, with the comedy coming from the gap between his prickly exterior and her easy cheerfulness.
