My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021) is a South Korean fantasy romance miniseries created by Park Joon-hwa for tvN. Across sixteen hour-long episodes, a 999-year-old gumiho named Shin Woo-yeo (Jang Ki-yong) must fill his fox bead with human energy before he turns one thousand, so he can become human. His plans collapse when college student Lee Dam (Lee Hye-ri) accidentally swallows that bead, leaving the two bound together and forced to share a home. The engine of the story is the awkward, escalating cohabitation: Woo-yeo must keep Dam alive and close while hiding his true nature, and each episode tangles them further in campus life, friendships, and rivalries with characters such as Gye Seon-woo (Bae In-hyuk) and Do Jae-jin (Kim Do-wan). The show moves between lighthearted comedy and a warm, wistful romance, with folklore woven through its modern Seoul setting. Its tone is playful and sincere, with tender moments that carry real emotional weight. Viewers who enjoy the supernatural romance of Goblin and the mythic fantasy of Scarlet Heart: Ryeo will find a similar blend of humor and longing in this compact, single-season korean drama.

Audiences rated the series positively, praising its charming romantic comedy blend of folklore fantasy and light drama.
