Turner & Hooch

A Deputy Marshal inherits an unruly dog who helps him solve crimes and investigate a family mystery.

Turner and Hooch is an American family crime comedy series created by Matt Nix for Disney+, a television continuation of the Turner and Hooch film franchise. Deputy Marshal Scott Turner inherits an unruly dog who becomes an unlikely crime-fighting partner, and the two chase suspects through each week's self-contained case while Scott also works through a family mystery that touches his own relatives. The dog's chaotic instincts supply physical comedy and the breakthroughs that move investigations forward. The single season runs twelve episodes of roughly forty-six minutes each, a light, good-natured procedural in the spirit of buddy cop comedies. The tone stays warm and breezy, with gentle humor, a sense of loyalty between man and animal, and a wholesome approach suited to all ages. Fans of Psych, Monk and the original film will find the same odd-couple charm and family-friendly crime play here, though the series was canceled before its story fully wrapped, leaving its central mysteries open.

Reviews found this Disney+ police dramedy a lightweight, mixed family adventure with a likable canine lead.
