Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Meet the Smiths: two lonely strangers, John and Jane, who have given up their lives and identities to be thrown together as partners – both in espionage and in marriage.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024) is an American streaming action comedy created by Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane for Prime Video. Donald Glover plays John Smith and Maya Erskine plays Jane Smith, two lonely strangers who have abandoned their old lives and identities to be thrown together as partners in espionage and in marriage. The engine of the series is their awkward forced intimacy: each mission demands a convincing couple's routine while the pair fight their own suspicions and rivalry. Episodes center on high-stakes operations that spill into domestic friction, with chases, gunfights and deceptions staged against an urban backdrop. The show runs for a single eight-episode season of roughly 46 minutes each. Its tone mixes glossy action with sardonic banter and a bruised, lonely undercurrent, and its ambitions sit in the vein of the 2005 film it is based on alongside spy comedies like Chuck and Burn Notice. Viewers looking for a breezy spy romp with a bickering couple at its center will find its mix of action and marriage comedy familiar and easy to follow.

Viewers find the series a stale, unoriginal reworking of the 1996 film with mixed acting and weak humor, giving it a mixed audience reception.
