The Santa Clauses

After nearly three decades of being Santa Claus, Scott Calvin’s magic begins to falter. As he struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, he discovers a new clause that forces him to rethink his role as Santa and as a father.

The Santa Clauses (2022-2023) is an American family comedy series created by Jack Burditt for Disney+. Tim Allen returns as Scott Calvin, a man who has spent nearly three decades as Santa Claus and now finds his magic beginning to falter. Elizabeth Mitchell plays Carol Calvin, his wife who becomes Mrs. Claus, and Kal Penn plays Simon Choksi, one of the people caught up in the new demands of the job. As Scott struggles to keep up with the workload of the North Pole, he discovers a new clause in the old magical contract that forces him to rethink what it means to be Santa and to be a father to his growing family. The series runs for two seasons and twelve episodes, with each half-hour story built around holiday preparations, family friction and the bureaucratic weight of a centuries-old agreement. Set in a present-day American setting with a fantastical North Pole, it plays as a warm, gently funny sequel to the 1994 film. Its tone is cozy, sincere and wholesome, with light comedic bite. Fans of The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2 and other family holiday comedies will find resonance here.

Audiences find the family holiday sequel warm and fun, though the rating is mixed and the second season is no stronger than the first.
