Ultraman Tiga

A high-tech squadron protects Earth from evil monsters and aliens with the help of a giant super-being named Ultraman Tiga.

Ultraman Tiga (1996-1997) is a Japanese tokusatsu science fiction series produced by Tsuburaya Productions and broadcast on TBS. Across a single season of 52 episodes, a high-tech defense squadron battles evil monsters and alien invaders on Earth, and the story turns on the team's struggle to hold back each new threat while the giant super-being Ultraman Tiga joins the fight. Human members of the squadron are played by Hiroshi Nagano as Madoka Daigo, Takami Yoshimoto as Yanase Rena, and Mio Takaki as Megumi Iruma, and their characters carry the everyday drama between the battles. Each episode is built around a self-contained monster or alien incursion, with the squadron planning attacks and the giant hero entering the climactic fight. The tone is bright, heroic, and energetic, with a sense of earnest optimism and spectacle. Its set in a contemporary Japan-like world, and its tradition of suit effects and miniature cityscapes makes it a faithful kaiju series. Fans of Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Godzilla will find resonance in its giant hero action and monster battles.
