Girls Bravo

Small for his age, Yukinari has been bullied and abused by girls all his life. Now in high school, he has developed a rare condition: whenever girls touch him, or even come close, he breaks out in hives. Imagine his surprise, when he is suddenly transported to the city of Seiren on a mystic world invisibly orbiting the Earth, and populated with vast numbers of women and very few men. Fortunately, he has a new friend, Miharu-chan, whose touch inexplicably doesn't affect him.

Girls Bravo (2004-2005) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series produced by Fuji Television Network and KADOKAWA Shoten, based on a manga and broadcast on Fuji TV. Its protagonist is Yukinari, a small, long-bullied high schooler who breaks out in hives whenever a girl touches him, until he is transported to Seiren, a mystic world invisibly orbiting Earth where women vastly outnumber men. His only comfort is Miharu-chan, whose touch causes him no reaction, and the engine of each episode is his struggle to survive the attention of a crowd of women while the city's social order turns his presence into a constant comic upheaval. The series runs for two seasons and twenty-four episodes, built from self-contained misadventures stitched into a continuing arc. Its tone is bawdy and playful, with fanservice-driven ecchi humor sitting beside sweeter romantic beats and a light, lovelorn warmth. Its look and humor are typical of an anime harem comedy, and viewers who enjoy Love Hina, Negima! Magister Negi Magi and Sekirei will find the same mix of teasing romance and gender-flipped chaos. Adult audiences seeking an irreverent, fanservice-forward fantasy comedy will find it easy to dip into.

Audience reception is mixed, with the first season well regarded and the second season rated noticeably lower.

• Negima! Magister Negi Magishared gender-inverted harem premise, comedic romance tone, fantasy setting with a male protagonist surrounded by women
• Love Hinashared fanservice-heavy romantic comedy with a bullied teen protagonist and ecchi tone
• Sekireishared harem comedy structure and anime romance tropes built around an everyman lead
