The Mindy Project

Obstetrician/gynecologist Mindy Lahiri tries to balance her personal and professional life, surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small medical practice in New York City.

The Mindy Project (2012-2017) is an American network sitcom created by Mindy Kaling for FOX and later Hulu. Mindy Kaling stars as Dr. Mindy Lahiri, an obstetrician-gynecologist running her own life in a small Manhattan medical practice, where she tries to balance career ambitions with a messy romantic life. Chris Messina plays fellow doctor Danny Castellano, and Ike Barinholtz, Ed Weeks and Xosha Roquemore fill out the offbeat staff around her. The engine of the show is the collision between Mindy's professional competence and her chaotic dating choices, with each episode built from clinic appointments, awkward office encounters and romantic misfires. Across six seasons the show moves through a series of relationships and workplace shake-ups, giving it an ongoing serialized spine layered over its standalone comic beats. The tone is breezy, self-aware and warm, with a rapid-fire sense of humor and a sympathetic lead who narrates her own missteps. Fans of The Office, Parks and Recreation and Happy Endings will find a similar blend of ensemble quirk and romantic comedy in a single-camera workplace setting.

Audiences rated the series positively, with the early seasons well regarded and later seasons judged weaker.
