Scrapped Princess

Pacifica Casull is the most feared and hated person by the followers of the God Mauser. Known as the Scrapped Princess, she is the poison that will destroy the world. To avoid being killed by the zealots of Mauser, Pacifica and her adoptive brother and sister leave the village of Manhurin. Her brother, Shannon, is an expert with the sword while Racquel is proficient with magic. At every step of the way, however, someone is constantly trying to kill Pacifica, hoping to somehow avert the catastrophe that is supposed to befall the world on her 16th birthday.

Scrapped Princess (2003) is a Japanese animated fantasy series created for WOWOW Prime and produced by the studio BONES, adapted from a light novel. Pacifica Casull, the feared heroine branded the Scrapped Princess, is the poison prophesied to destroy the world on her sixteenth birthday, and she flees her village with her adoptive brother Shannon Casull, a skilled swordsman, and her adoptive sister Racquel Casull, a gifted mage. Voiced by Fumiko Orikasa, Pacifica is the emotional center of a story whose engine is simple and relentless: every stop along the road brings a new attack from the zealots of the God Mauser, and each confrontation tightens the siblings' bond while peeling back the mystery of who Pacifica truly is. The single season of twenty-four episodes plays as a serialized journey, with standalone skirmishes folding into a continuing arc. Set in a sword and sorcery world where mecha machines stand beside magic and blades, the series blends brooding fantasy with moments of warmth and lightly comic sibling banter. Its tone is earnest and melancholic, with a theme of persecution and loyalty at its heart. Fans of Record of Lodoss War, Escaflowne and Princess Mononoke will find resonance in its mix of prophecy, mythic menace and a hunted young heroine fighting for her own identity.

Reviewers generally find the series visually appealing and action-driven, with its lead character and mythic fantasy premise as strengths, though its unresolved ending and compressed storytelling draw criticism.
