Record of Grancrest War

On a continent ruled by chaos, the Lords have the power of a holy seal that can calm the chaos and protect the people. However, before anyone realizes it, the rulers cast aside their creed of purifying the chaos, and instead start to fight each other for each other's holy seals to gain dominion over one another. Siluca, an isolated mage who scorns the Lords for abandoning their creed, and a wandering knight named Theo, who is on a journey to train to one day liberate his hometown, make an everlasting oath to work together to reform this continent dominated by wars and chaos.

Record of Grancrest War (2018) is a Japanese anime series produced by A-1 Pictures and broadcast on TOKYO MX, adapted from a light novel. Set on a continent where feuding Lords once held sacred seals to calm chaos, the story follows Siluca Meletes (Akari Kito), an isolated mage who scorns the rulers for abandoning their creed, and Theo Cornaro (Kentaro Kumagai), a wandering knight training to liberate his hometown. Their everlasting oath to reform a land dominated by war drives the series, with each episode weaving political maneuvering, shifting alliances and battlefield clashes around the struggle for dominion over the holy seals. Supporting voices include Reina Ueda as Aishela, Satoshi Hino as David Lassic and Natsumi Takamori as Priscilla Farnese. Across one twenty-four episode season, the tone is earnest and epic, with a romantic undercurrent and a sense of moral weight rather than gore for its own sake. Fans of The Heroic Legend of Arslan and Log Horizon will find resonance in its blend of fantasy warfare, court intrigue and a partnership forged against a fractured world.

Audiences rate the series as mixed, with praise for its epic fantasy war scope and character relationships, while its adaptation of a light novel draws some criticism.
