Axe Cop

Axe Cop is an animated series based on the webcomic of the same name. It premiered on Fox on July 21, 2013, as a part of the channel's Animation Domination HD programming block. The series aired 6 11-minute episodes in its first season, which will later expand to half-hour episodes should the show be renewed for a second season.

Axe Cop (2013-2015) is an American adult animated comedy series created by Malachai Nicolle and Ethan Nicolle for FOX and FXX. Based on the brothers' webcomic, it follows Axe Cop (voiced by Nick Offerman), a lawman with an axe for a hand, and his partner Flute Cop (Ken Marino), as they hunt criminals, dinosaurs and villains in a world invented by an imaginative child. Each short episode is a freewheeling, escalating adventure in which logic bends to whatever a kid would dream up, so every story spins from one wild idea to the next. The engine is pure momentum: a crime to solve, a monster to stop, and an ever larger pile of absurd complications. The series is a rapid-fire sequence of brief, self-contained episodes rather than a continuing plot, with crude, cartoonish violence and frequent profanity played for laughs. Its tone is gleeful, chaotic and irreverent, a surreal blend of childlike wonder and adult crudeness. Fans of Adventure Time, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Rick and Morty will find a similar appetite for nonsense, sharp satire and anarchic cartoon energy. The show runs for two seasons and twenty-two episodes, a short, spirited comedy best enjoyed in small doses.

Audiences rate the absurd, over-the-top animated spin on the webcomic positively, enjoying its chaotic energy and comic logic.
