I Remember You

A top detective is reunited with a childhood friend who has since become a leading criminal profiler. Can they join forces to stop a serial killer?

Hello Monster (2015) is a South Korean crime mystery series created by Kwon Ki-young for KBS2. Top detective Cha Ji-an (Jang Na-ra) is reunited with her childhood friend Lee Hyun (Seo In-guk), who has grown into a leading criminal profiler. Their partnership is the engine of the story: Cha Ji-an pushes a stubborn police investigation forward while Lee Hyun reads the mind of a serial killer whose trail of violence keeps tightening around the city. Each episode layers suspects, hidden identities and misdirections onto the central hunt, and a supporting cast including Park Bo-gum, Lee Chun-hee and Im Ji-eun fills out a web of police colleagues and secrets. The sixteen-episode run is a single continuing investigation told in one contained arc, which makes it a tight limited series rather than a procedural of standalone cases. Its tone is tense and psychological, with moody, dread-filled interludes and a slight romantic undercurrent between the leads. Fans of Mindhunter, Signal and Tunnel will find resonance in its blend of profiling, police work and personal history. Viewers who enjoy Korean crime thrillers with character-driven suspense will find it an engaging watch.

Audiences liked the cast and the core mystery but felt the logic and romance were weak.
