Flower of Evil

Hiding a twisted past, a man maintains his facade as the perfect husband to his detective wife — until she begins investigating a series of murders.

Flower of Evil (2020) is a South Korean crime thriller series created by Yoo Jung-hee and Kim Cheol-kyu for tvN, a single-season run of sixteen episodes. Detective Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won) is a homicide investigator whose marriage to Baek Hee-sung (Lee Joon-gi) seems perfectly ordinary until she begins probing a series of murders. Her husband presents himself as a devoted craftsman and family man, yet he carries a buried past he will do almost anything to keep hidden. Each episode tightens the pressure as Ji-won follows case leads that circle closer to home, while her colleagues and his relatives add pressure of their own. The engine of the show is the widening gap between the life she thinks she shares and the truth she is uncovering, played out through interrogations, quiet domestic scenes, and flashbacks that reframe earlier moments. Its tone is tense and brooding, with a steady undercurrent of romantic unease that makes the household feel as dangerous as any crime scene. Fans of Stranger and psychological thrillers with charming, hidden killers will find resonance here, as will viewers drawn to slow burn Korean suspense that rewards close attention to every glance and lie.

Viewers broadly acclaim the series for its tense psychological suspense, its layered deception plot and its lead performances.
