Meteor Garden

An ordinary girl is admitted to the most prestigious school in the country where she encounters F4, an exclusive group comprised of the four wealthiest and handsomest boys in the school - Dao Mingsi, Hua Zelei, Xi Men and Mei Zuo.

Meteor Garden (2018) is a Chinese television romance drama series created by Angie Chai, Lin He Long and Yoko Kamio for Hunan Television, adapted from a Japanese shojo manga. The story follows Dong Shancai (Shen Yue), an ordinary, outspoken girl who wins a place at the most prestigious school in the country and finds herself at odds with F4, the four wealthiest and most handsome boys on campus. Dylan Wang plays the possessive heir Dao Mingsi, whose cold pursuit of her becomes the emotional engine of the show, while Darren Chen plays Hua Zelei and Liang Jingkang plays Feng Meizuo as members of the group. Each episode is built from school-life clashes, rivalries, humiliations and small reversals that push the leads together despite their class divide. The 50-episode run is one continuing story told over a single season. The tone swings between breezy comedy, sweet youthful longing and tense jealousy, with a glossy, polished look and a teen audience in mind. Fans of Boys Over Flowers, Hana Yori Dango, and Gossip Girl will find the same mix of privilege, rivalry and first love in this rich-boy romance.

Viewers broadly embrace the series as a sweet, glossy idol romance with strong chemistry between its leads, though it is a light, formulaic take on its source manga.
