Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!?

Ichiro Sato is about as average as a student can get... except for his above-average ability to land himself in totally awkward, intensely risqué situations with his no-nonsense teacher, Kana Kojima! Ichiro has his hands full dealing with these steamy shenanigans and unexpected encounters in the most unlikely places. At least it can’t get any worse, right?

Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!? (2019) is a Japanese seinen anime comedy series created by Soborou and produced by Tear Studio, aired on AT-X and TOKYO MX. Its everyday protagonist Ichiro Sato (voiced by Ryota Suzuki) is an ordinary student whose talent lies in tumbling into steamy, awkward encounters with his no-nonsense teacher Kana Kojima (voiced by Sumire Uesaka). Each brief twelve-minute episode runs on the same engine: Ichiro tries to keep his composure while improbable, embarrassing situations pile up in unlikely places, and the teacher's stern dignity keeps getting undone. The single season of twelve episodes is a light, episodic format rather than a continuing plot, so viewers can dip in at any point. The tone stays breezy and bawdy, with fanservice and quick physical gags defining the comedic register rather than any deeper drama. Fans of Sensei Kunin ga Iu Koto ni wa, Haganai and Love Hina will find the same flustered romantic comedy energy here, delivered as a quick, cheeky anime for adult audiences.

Audiences rate the short anime's risqué teacher-student comedy as mixed, with its fan-service appeal and brief format drawing middling reactions.
