The Dungeon of Black Company

Kinji, who lacks any kind of work ethic, is a layabout in his modern life. One day, he finds himself transported to another world–but not in a grand fantasy of a hero welcomed with open arms. He's immediately shoved into a terrible job! Now enslaved by an evil mining company in a fantasy world, Kinji's about to really learn the meaning of hard work!

The Dungeon of Black Company (2021) is a Japanese anime isekai comedy produced by Silver Link and broadcast on TOKYO MX. Kinji Ninomiya is a layabout with no work ethic who is transported from modern life into a fantasy world, only to be shoved into a brutal job at an evil mining company inside a labyrinth. Co-workers and figures around him include Rim, Wanibe and Belza, and a goblin boss presides over the grind. The engine of the show is simple: Kinji wants to escape the drudgery and survive, while the dungeon's quotas, monsters and cruel management keep pulling him deeper into the work he avoided. Each episode is built from short comic set pieces of mining shifts, petty bureaucracy and monster encounters. Told in a single season of short episodes, it plays as a continuing story with light episodic gags. The tone is breezy and sardonic, with dark workplace satire undercutting the fantasy adventure. Fans of Konosuba and Overlord will find resonance in its blend of isekai premise, irreverent humor and a fantasy world that mirrors everyday office misery.

Audiences rate the series as mixed, finding its workplace-in-another-world comedy amusing but not outstanding.
