Love & Anarchy

A married consultant and a young IT tech kick off a flirty game that challenges societal norms — and leads them to re-evaluate their entire lives.

Love & Anarchy (2020-2022) is a Swedish comedy-drama romance series created by Lisa Langseth for Netflix. A married business consultant Sofie Rydman (Ida Engvoll) and a younger IT technician Max Järvi (Björn Mosten) begin a flirtatious game that quickly stops being harmless. Caroline Dahl (Carla Sehn) and Friedrich Jägerstedt (Reine Brynolfsson) add the pressure of their own professional and personal stakes, while Denise Konar (Gizem Erdogan) and Ronny Johansson (Björn Kjellman) bring the wider social circle into view. The engine is the tension between desire and the obligations of marriage, career and reputation, as each flirt tests what the characters think they want. The series unfolds across two seasons of eight episodes each, mostly in offices, apartments and restaurants in contemporary Stockholm, with a glossy urban look. Its tone is sly and sexy, with wry humor balancing the emotional fallout of each choice. Fans of Industry, Shameless and Sex Education will find resonance in its frank adult romance and its interest in how people reshape their lives when the rules stop working.

Audiences rate the series positively, with the second season judged a clear step up from the first.
