Overview
Bob, a guardian from the Super Computer, helped by his friends Dot, Enzo, and dog Frisket, defend the digital city of Mainframe from evil computer viruses that seek to dominate the city and infect the entire net.
ReBoot (1994-2001) is a Canadian computer-animated science fiction series created by John Grace, Philip Mitchell, Gavin Blair and Ian Pearson for ABC and YTV. Guardian Bob, voiced by Ian James Corlett, leads his friends Dot Matrix (Kathleen Barr), Enzo Matrix (Matthew Sinclair) and the dog Frisket through the digital city of Mainframe, where the programs live as citizens. Their engine is a constant defense against evil computer viruses that seek to dominate the city and infect the entire net. Megabyte, voiced by Tony Jay, drives much of the menace, while Hexadecimal (Shirley Milliner) and Fong (Michael Donovan) round out the cast. The series runs four seasons and forty-seven episodes, mixing standalone skirmishes with a serialized battle arc that builds across each season and leaves cliffhangers between them. Its visuals were pioneering for television, with a glowing neon palette and flying ships, hoverboards and robot cops filling the streets. The tone is brisk and adventurous, with a sincere, hopeful heart and a playful sense of friendship. Fans of Tron: Uprising and Batman: The Animated Series will find resonance in its digital landscapes and heroic stakes, set in the 1990s era of early computer animation.
