The Land Before Time

Follow young dinosaurs Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, Ducky and Petrie, on their first journey together - an exciting quest to find the lush, legendary Great Valley.

The Land Before Time (2007-2008) is an American animated family adventure series produced for Cartoon Network as a follow-up to the 1988 film. It follows young dinosaurs Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, Ducky and Petrie on their first journey together, a quest to reach the lush, legendary Great Valley. Each episode is built around a self-contained obstacle along the trail, such as a hungry predator, a treacherous landscape or a rival group, which the young travelers must meet through courage and cooperation. The setting is a sun-drenched prehistoric world of valleys, rocky canyons and open plains. The tone is gentle, warm and hopeful, with a wide-eyed sense of wonder and light humor. Its single season of twenty-six half-hour episodes keeps the stakes low and the friendships central. Viewers who enjoyed the adventure and camaraderie of Dinosaur Train, Ice Age or The Secret of NIMH will find a comfortable resonance here, making it a reliable pick for young children and the adults who watch alongside them.
